50th Anniversary

The 2019-2020 school year will mark the 50th anniversary of WELS Campus Ministry at Michigan Tech! We’ll be celebrating throughout the school year under the theme, “God’s Word Is Our Great Heritage.”  Our celebration will begin with a special kick-off worship service on September 1st, 9:15 AM.  Pastor Mark Hannemann will be our guest preacher.  His message will emphasize that God’s Word Is Age To Age The Same. We’ll have a traditional cook-out and volleyball after the service.  Alumni, please join us!

  • ALUMNI: The possibility of an alumni broomball team is in the works. As a graduating senior, I am planning on coming back and participating and coordinating as long as I can recruit enough interested parties. Please email (lrnitz@mtu.edu) or text (989-750-6737) me if you have any interest, even if you can’t commit yet! Alumni would also be welcome to participate in statue building (per Blue Key) although of course, that does occur Wednesday night in the middle of the week.

ALUMNI: We would love to have any and all alumni to show up, so we’re also asking you to reach out to your fellow Lutheran Collegians from your time at Tech to let them know about the celebration going on next year! Feel free to provide them with our contact information as well. If you have any questions about the events or anything else you can contact me, Addison Waege (current VP), or Pastor Schwanke. Our emails are provided below:

Pastor Schwanke: pastor@peacehoughton.org

Laura Nitz: lrnitz@mtu.edu

Addison Waege: ajwaege@mtu.edu

STUDENTS: What a great opportunity to celebrate! I hope you’ll make the most of an opportunity to meet and get to know Lutheran Collegian alumni, and build friendships with the current Lutheran Collegians as well.

Psalm 119:111-112

Your statutes are my heritage forever;
they are the joy of my heart.
My heart is set on keeping your decrees
to the very end.
